MAORI TENNIS LOSES A GOOD FRIEND

Gordon Simpson, passed away on the Gold Coast on Sunday in the arms of his wife Carol, Gordon was in his 89th year. He will be best remembered for his tennis achievements at Mairangi Bay Tennis Club,
where he was the club champion for many decades.
Gordon had the destinction of having two sons Jeff and Russell play Davis Cup for NZ and a grandson Matt (Jeffs son) also played Davis Cup, his other son Peter is a professional tennis coach in Wellington.
Gordon is survived by his wife Carol, and sons Jeff, Russell, Peter and daughter Julie.

Gordon came back from the Gold Coast to celebrate his 80th birthday, with Maori tennis members led by the Garratt whanau providing music and entertainment – members of the Aotearoa Maori Tennis seniors who travelled each year to the Gold Coast were always entertained by Gordon and Carol.
