E hoa mā, inā te ora o te tangata
E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā kārangaranga maha
E mihi ana te ngakau ki a tātou e noho haumaru ana ki ō koutou mirumiru
me ngā whakaaro nui ki ngā whānau kei ngā rohenga katoa e taumaha ana i a Kōwheori.

I ngā wiki kua pahemo, he nui ngā kaupapa o te motu kua whakakorengia
i runga anō i te whakaaro nui kia haumaru te tangata, kia kaua hoki tēnei
māuiuitanga e rērere haere i āna huarahi patu tangata.
Ka mutu, ka tau mai a Kowheori – Delta katahi ka rerekē anō ngā huarahi haumaru.

Ka puta mai ēnei whakaaro hei ārahi i a whakaaro,
“Ko te toto o te tangata he kai, he whakapapa
Ko te oranga o te tangata he whenua, he moana”
While food provides the blood in our veins and whakapapa
The life of a person is the land and the sea.

Nā ēnei whakaaro e hoa mā, ka whakakorengia te
Whakataetae Tēnehi Māori o Aotearoa i tēnei tau 2021
Ka tū anō hei te tau kei te heke mai ki Waikato – Tainui hei te tau 2022.

My friends, this is the essence of life.
To all authorities, to all of the voices and to our many families
Our hearts and thoughts go out to everyone and hope that you are safe in your regions,

especially with whānau that are in the affected areas and struggling with Covid.

In past weeks decisions have been made to cancel events throughout the country to ensure
that we are safe and that we make every effort to stop the spread of this disease to protect our people.
Covid-19 was the first issue and then came the Covid – Delta strand.

It is because of these changes that our kaumātua of Māori Tennis were contacted
for their thoughts and to embed thinking around whether the Aotearoa Māori Tennis Tournament
will continue in 2021 or not.

These ideas we brought back the to the Aotearoa Māori Executive where the decision
was made in the best interest of everyone.
This proverb comes to mind as it encapsulates the essence and importance of who we are.
“Ko te toto o te tangata he kai, he whakapapa
Ko te oranga o te tangata he whenua, he moana”
While food provides the blood in our veins and whakapapa
The life of a person is land and the sea.

Due to all of these factors, the decision has been made that
Te Whakataetae Tēnehi Māori o Aotearoa 2021 will be postponed for 2021
and will return to Waikato-Tainui in 2022.
