PAIGE HOURIGAN LED NZ FED CUP SUFFER NARROW LOSS TO UZBEKISTAN

Following their 3-0 opening win against Turkmenistan in the Asia/Oceania Zone Group II the NZ Women’s Fed Cup team led by Paige Hourigan Ngati Tuwharetoa went down to top seeds Uzbekistan 0-3 in a tie that was closer than the score line suggests, with Paige losing the top singles in a marathon 2 hours and 37 minutes match 5-7 6-4 6-7, missing the promotion play-offs.

NZ have placed fifth in their return to Fed Cup, since 2014 with Paige defeating her Sri Lanka opponent 6-0 6-1 and NZ winning 2-0.
